Ask Not What Your Country Can Do For You...
Ask what you can do for your President! Until the White House changed course last night, that was at the core of next week's lesson plans for America 's elementary school children. On Tuesday President Obama is schedule to delivery a live message to schoolchildren across the nation. As we reported yesterday, the speech will be accompanied by a work sheet produced by the Department of Education that called upon children to write about what they can do to help the President.
After a firestorm of criticism the White House changed the core question to student asking about how they can achieve their short-term and long-term education goals. In an online poll we started yesterday already 94 percent of respondents think the President shouldn't even address the schoolchildren at all during school hours. The timing of the speech is certainly suspect as he is embroiled in a very controversial policy debate in which he is losing ground.
