Felons for Obama

Obama Soft On Crime

That’s the conclusion from a report in today’s
Washington Times that delves into Barack Obama’s radical voting record in the Illinois state legislature. Here’s what the Times found:
  • Obama was the only member of the state Senate to vote to allow the continued early release of criminal sex offenders.

  • Obama was one of only four members of the state Senate to oppose tougher sentences of gang members and dealers of the drug Ecstasy.

  • Obama voted “present” on a bill that made it more difficult for abusive parents to regain custody of their children.

  • Obama did not vote on a bill to prevent convicted sex offenders from serving on school boards.

  • Obama did not vote on a bill requiring school bus drivers to pass a fingerprint background check. (Apparently those issues were “above his paygrade”!)
In summing up its analysis, the Times reporters wrote, “Senator Barack Obama will portray himself Thursday night as an agent of change for mainstream America, but his eight-year record in the Illinois Senate shows the Democrat was on occasion an agent of isolation who took stands – particularly on anti-crime legislation – that put him to the left of his own party.”
