Protect Children from Network TV

The good folks at the Parents Television Council need your help to protect children from indecent programming.
"The broadcast networks have launched an all-out assault on decency, and have found a powerful ally in several activist judges that have been working to overturn recent FCC fines.

Not content with getting appeals courts to declare that the "F-word" and bare breasts are perfectly fine to show on prime time broadcast television; ABC, CBS, and NBC have taken their assault on common sense decency even further by filing briefs with the Supreme Court criticizing previous Court rulings that upheld the FCC's enforcement authority and asserting that broadcasters should not be bound by any indecency laws of any kind!

It's an outrage! The networks -- who make billions of dollars each and every year through their use of a public resource -- want to use our broadcast airwaves to force indecent content into our homes and then have the nerve to insist they shouldn't be bound by any rules or restrictions on the content they choose to air!

That's why we urgently need you to take action today.

Please take a moment to call your Senators and demand immediate action on S. 1780 (Protecting Children From Indecent Programming Act) to reaffirm Congress' support for vigorous enforcement of the existing broadcast decency laws and the importance of protecting the public airwaves from indecent content.

The PTC's most recent Special Report, Happily Never After proved why this legislation is so important. References to and depictions of behaviors that were once considered taboo for TV and many sexual practices that are illegal outnumbered references to marital intimacy on NBC by 27 to 1! Broadcasters are more interested in shock and titillation than in telling stories that are relevant and meaningful to TV audiences.

We need to take back control of our broadcast airwaves! We need your help to send a loud and clear signal to Congress, the White House, the courts, and the networks that we support the FCC's efforts to protect the public airwaves from indecent content. Please take a moment today to urge your Senators to pass S. 1780. Go to http://capwiz.com/parentstv/callalert/index.tt?alertid=11664201&type=ML now to take action.

Without passage of this critical legislation, the Broadcast Decency Enforcement Act passed two years ago will be rendered essentially meaningless.

Please speak up today.

And please also consider making a donation to the PTC to support our efforts to keep indecent content off of your television sets. It's only through the generous support of people like you that the PTC has been able to lead this fight, but we need your continued support to keep this effort going."
