Why, you might ask?
It's amazing because Sabato manages to make it thorough the entire article about segregation in Virginia, altogether almost a full page, without once mentioning the word, "Democrat."
Yeah, he throws around some names, U.S. Senator Harry F. Byrd, Sr., Norfolk Mayor Fred Duckworth, and the vague "state's elected leadership" but somehow he never gets around to telling readers that these elected leaders were major players in the Democrat party.
Surely someone as highly educated as Mr. Sabato is aware of the Democrat Party's connection to slavery, Jim Crow, the KKK, segregation, and of course, massive resistance. Yet, no reference is made to these ties.
Why is Sabato covering for the Democrat Party? It might make one wonder what version of political history students are being taught, in his Center for Politics at the University of Virginia.
