“Stimulating” Projects
"I have good news to report today. I, along with many of you, have been wondering where exactly all that stimulus money has been going. The unemployment rate has continued to grow, along with the deficit, despite the fact that we passed the stimulus bill six months ago. Well, it looks like we found our answer.
Unfortunately, according to Citizens Against Government Waste, the National Endowment for the Arts is spending some of the money it received from the Recovery and Reinvestment Act to fund nude simulated-sex dances, Saturday night “pervert” revues and pornographic horror films at art houses located in – where else! – San Francisco. (I wonder if that was an earmark requested by Nancy Pelosi?)
The NEA was given $80 million dollars that was supposed to be used to preserve jobs in orchestras, museums and theatres. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the type of pork that is produced by the government when they pass the largest spending bill in our nation’s history. Maybe if our elected representatives had taken the time to read the stimulus bill before voting on it, wasteful projects like this would not have been funded with your tax dollars."
