Constituent Services Update From Robert Hurt

Congressman Robert Hurt
Serving Virginia's 5th District

The White House announced Tuesday that it will be suspending all White House tours effective Saturday, March 9, 2013 until further notice due to budget reductions. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

We regret that the White House has canceled self-guided tours for those in Virginia's 5th District and across the country.

Please be aware that both our office and the U.S. Capitol will remain open to you. Planning in the House of Representatives for the possibility of budget cuts under the sequester has been underway for some time. Consequently, alternative spending reductions have been implemented within the Capitol to ensure public tours and other regular activities can proceed as they normally would.

This Capitol belongs to you. Your visits and your input in the legislative process is essential to the strength of our democracy. We encourage you to visit us in Washington and to let us know how we can help you book any other tours that are still available, including the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, Kennedy Center, Library of Congress, and the Supreme Court.

If you need any additional information, please visit my website at hurt.house.gov/tours or call my Washington office: (202) 225-4711.
