Rep. Robert Hurt Statement On February Unemployment Report

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Robert Hurt (R-Virginia) released the following statement after the Department of Labor issued the February unemployment report:

"While I am pleased to see that our economy has added jobs this month, it is very concerning that more Americans continue to drop out of the labor force as this recovery struggles to get on its feet. As I travel across the 5th District, it is clear that families and small businesses are hurting in the President's economy – and it is clear that many are concerned that we are headed down the wrong path as federal spending continues at an unsustainable rate. If we are going to preserve our American opportunities for our children and grandchildren, our work starts now.

"The House of Representatives is committed to offering a budget in the coming weeks that will balance in ten years, reform critical health and retirement safety programs, and restore a robust economy through commonsense tax reform. We will continue fighting for our families and small businesses who have suffered through joblessness, high taxes, and economic uncertainty for the last four years. Getting 5th District Virginians and all Americans back to work is our top priority. I look forward to the Senate and the President joining us."
