A Nation Without A Border Is No Nation At All
This week the Biden Administration allowed Title 42 border restrictions to expire. These COVID-era policies were put into place by the Trump Administration in March 2020 to prevent a massive increase of immigration during the pandemic. For the past three years it has been a rare remaining tool still used to some degree by the Biden Administration to prevent some illegal aliens from entering our country, while actually prioritizing the safety and well-being of American citizens.
Our southern border has faced an unprecedented humanitarian and national security crisis after the Biden Administration took office with approximately 7 million illegal aliens permitted to enter our country since January 2021. All President Biden needed to do to maintain a secure border was to leave the Trump-era policies in place and complete the wall construction. Instead, the president reversed those policies and halted the wall. And, he has offered no plan of his own to stop the massive influx of illegal immigration that will overwhelm our border to an even greater degree in the coming days and weeks. In fact, THAT appears to be his PLAN.
It is a shame that congressional Republicans must force this Administration to do its job and protect our national security. This week, House Republicans passed the strongest-ever border package that would codify into law the effective Trump policies and end the Biden border invasion. The Secure the Border Act would restart construction of the wall, hire more Border Patrol agents, invest in new technology, support local and state law enforcement efforts, reform asylum policies, and increase transparency and accountability for a derelict Department of Homeland Security. Senate Democrats must now also pass this bill to preserve our great nation and take control of our border back from the Mexican crime cartels.
