Congressman Good Update: Reining in the Bureaucracy

Empowering Small Businesses with Less Government Interference

This week, I introduced the Small Businesses Before Bureaucrats Act, which would curb the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) authority to control America's small businesses. Our small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy and the backbone of our communities.

Unfortunately, the NLRB has used outdated standards to impose greater power over businesses which never should have been regulated by the Federal Government in the first place. My legislation would increase by ten-fold the annual revenue threshold for which small businesses fall under the authority of the NLRB, thereby relieving a significant number from being under the agency's control.Unelected bureaucrats should not be empowered to cripple small business owners with burdensome regulations and tilt the playing field in favor of union bosses.

Waging War on the Biden Administration's Attack on Parental Rights in Education

Biden's Education Secretary Miguel Cardona has undermined the primary authority of parents in their children's education, ignored efforts to target them for expressing their concern at school board meetings, and advanced harmful policies and dangerous curriculum. This week in the Education and the Workforce Committee hearing, I asked Secretary Cardona if he would support an investigation into violent threats made by school officials against parents in Loudon County. He dodged my question while claiming that he "absolutely" agrees that parents know what is best for their kids. If that is the case, then why does he turn a blind eye to their First Amendment rights, and prioritize indoctrination instead of academic excellence?

Because of the concerning attempt to violate parents' First Amendment rights, my good friend Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) and I sent a letter to the chairman of the Loudoun County School Board demanding that they denounce these threats immediately and investigate the involvement and actions by school officials.

House Republicans Have Done Our Part to Avoid a Debt Default

House Republicans did our part for the fiscal state of the union by passing the Limit, Save, Grow Act in April. We are united in our efforts to shrink Washington and grow America. We joined with our Senate colleagues this week at a press conference to reaffirm our commitment to fiscal responsibility and to passing real spending reforms without touching veteran benefits, Social Security, or Medicare.

It is up to Senate Democrats and President Biden to avoid breaching the debt limit. They can do so by passing and signing the Republican plan.

Combatting Dishonest Propaganda at James Madison's Montpelier Residence

At James Madison's Montpelier, just outside the 5thDistrict, the caretakers of the home are promoting a dishonest, woke, anti-American agenda. Rather than accurately presenting the life and accomplishments of the architect of the Constitution and our fourth president, they are pushing false narratives. I sent a letter to the president of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, along with my House Freedom Caucus colleague Rep. Eli Crane (AZ-02), demanding answers for their actions.

Backing the Blue

Thank you to the brave men and women in uniform in Virginia's 5th District and across the country who put on the badge every day and work to keep our communities safe. This National Police Week, and every week, I am proud back the blue.
