Last week marked a significant moment for our House Republican Majority. We passed the Limit, Save, Grow Act of 2023, to address the mounting debt ceiling dilemma facing our nation. President Biden and Congressional Democrats' failed to act in the interest of our nation's fiscal health. As a result, Republican action was needed in order to avert a default on our debt, rein in the out-of-control spending, and recalibrate the budget to pre-COVID levels. This critical and common-sense solution will Limit the reckless and inflation-inducing progressive spending that is crippling our economy, Save money in the American people's pockets, and Grow the economy to provide much-needed relief to those struggling under Biden's price hike on America. Republicans remain committed to enacting practical and economically sound solutions to our nation's bleak fiscal health, and passage of this bill goes a long way to ensuring We The People live in a country that works for them, not special interests and radical progressive wish list antics. Republicans did our job. Now it's time for Senate Majority Leader Schumer and President Biden to take action and avoid the cataclysmic impact of a default on our debt. Throughout the week, President Biden's White House Press Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, parroted a growing list of lies surrounding the debt ceiling debate. I believe it is important that the American people hear directly from Republican members of Congress ourselves, so I devised a response video to Jean-Pierre which you can view in further detail later in this newsletter. To succeed on the legislative front, we must pair sound policy proposals with a winning messaging strategy not only on the debt ceiling but on all other proposals in the 118th Congress. I also introduced three pieces of legislation last week, the first being the House companion bill to the International Nuclear Energy Act. Originally proposed by Senators Manchin (D-WV) and Risch (R-ID), this bill, co-led by Assistant House Democratic Leader Rep. Clyburn (D-SC) embraces a whole-of-government strategy for nuclear energy cooperation and nuclear energy exports. This bill is also the ninth proposal of my nine-part "2023-24 Donalds Nuclear Energy Package." Soon, I will add my tenth proposal to this dynamic and meaningful legislative policy package. Furthermore, I introduced the Embrace Fossil Fuel Recruitment Act and the House companion bill of the Repeal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Act. The Embrace Fossil Fuel Recruitment Act simply states that fossil fuel energy companies should be prohibited from being denied the same job recruitment opportunities that almost all other companies are offered at federally funded institutions of higher-education. No energy company should be discriminated against because of their line of work. Fossil fuel companies must be allowed equal access to job recruitment at federally funded institutions to ensure American energy production keeps its competitive advantage worldwide and that American energy has a steady stream of young talent able to join the ranks of its workforce. The Embrace Fossil Fuel Recruitment Act received support from various members of the House as did the Repeal CFPB Act, which was jointly filed in the U.S. Senate by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX). The Repeal CFPB Act includes provisions to eliminate the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Frankly, the CFPB is the epitome of the Washington, DC, swamp. It is an unconstitutional, overreaching, government agency with no Congressional oversight and it deserves to be abolished.
As your Congressman, you have my commitment to work on your behalf and restore order and proper governance to The People's House. |
