| Last week, your House Republican majority was hard at work on Capitol Hill, introducing bills, passing legislation and holding the Biden administration accountable. I began the week by introducing the tenth bill of my 2023-24 Nuclear Energy Package. My most recent bill is entitled the "American Isotope Security Act." This proposal requires an analysis of how domestic advanced nuclear reactors and domestic spent nuclear fuel recycling facilities can reduce our nation's dependency on our adversaries for isotopes. The simple fact is that we should not be 100% dependent on our adversaries for critical radioactive isotopes when our country has the ability to produce them ourselves. I look forward to introducing more nuclear energy proposals in the imminent future. As a united House Republican majority, we notably passed two critical pieces of legislation last week. On Thursday, the Biden administration let Title 42 expire with no back-up plan. While the Biden administration, sat back and let chaos ensue, House Republicans passed H.R. 2, The Secure The Border Act. This bill will help rebuild our border wall and construct new border wall, deploy critical security technology to the border, increase US Customs and Border Patrol staffing and bonus pay, require transparency on illegal crossing statistics, protect unaccompanied minors, end the disastrous catch and release system and strengthen the asylum process. We must secure our border from this invasion of illegal immigration and House Republicans are committed to real legislative solutions to this crisis. We also passed H.R. 1163, The Protecting Taxpayers and Victims of Unemployment Fraud Act. Over $400 billion in unemployment occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic. This bill addresses the fraud and overpayments of pandemic unemployment benefits that occurred across our country and incentivizes states to recover this money. On the Oversight Committee, we held a press conference to update the American people on our investigation into Biden family corruption. We are able to clearly see that Biden Family Associates created at least 16 LLCs while he was Vice President of the United States. These LLCs served the purpose of concealing money that the family had gained from foreign actors in China and Romania. There is no Biden family business other than Joe's fifty-year political career and for those in the press, this story is easy pickings & Pulitzer-level stuff. Frankly, cycling through this many LLCs serves no legitimate purpose. I used to work in banking and whenever there are wire transfers, checks & payments to random people for no apparent purpose, the logical conclusion is you're concealing money. That's the only reason to set-up a structure like this. No one can logically sit here and say that Joe Biden had no idea these companies were being formed while he was Vice President. Our committee will continue to pursue this investigation to its fullest extent and provide our findings to the American people. Regarding the debt ceiling, the White House continues to lie about House Republicans through Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. What is important to remember is that House Republicans passed our debt ceiling plan weeks ago in a piece of legislation called the "Limit Save Grow Act." If Biden continues to sit back with his hands in his pockets, refusing to negotiate, then he is single-handedly leading us straight into default and that's a very sad thing to see. We must curtail spending and get back to pre-COVID spending levels. Both President Biden and Senator Schumer must work with us to develop a pathway forward on the debt ceiling. We've offered our solution and now it's time for them to sit down with us to craft a collaborative fix. Our fiscal future is at stake.
