EMET Profoundly Thanks Rep. Andy Ogles and Rep. Andy Biggs For Their Strong Letter to The Ambassador of Qatar Condemning Hamas

EMET is Disappointed in the Biden Administration's Decision to Ignore Warnings about U.S. Indirect Support for Hamas

(October 12, 2023, Washington, DC) – We, at EMET, sincerely express our deep gratitude to Andy Ogles (TN-5) and Rep. Andy Biggs (AZ-5) who had written to the Embassy of Qatar demanding cooperation against the Islamic Republic of Iran and the immediate expulsion of the Hamas leadership from Qatar.

In it, the congressmen write: "Your nation's public statements following the attack against Israel fail to inspire much confidence that Qatar is working toward the common good. Such statements have blamed Israel for the pain they are enduring and have reiterated Doha's view that "the international community [needs] to compel Israel to cease its blatant violations of international law."

The letter comes about as a result of Qatar's long-standing support for the murderous terrorist organization that just massacred in cold blood over 1,300 Israelis, mostly civilians, in cold blood. After the ruthless crime, the Hamas leadership recorded and aired its victory speech from Doha.

The letter also states that "Qatar can be a responsible state actor that eschews terrorism and violence and paves the path for peace. Whether or not it does so depends on what your government chooses to do next. We urge your nation to:

1). Unequivocally condemn Hamas;

2). Extradite Hamas's leadership from Doha; and

3). Work with the Biden Administration to ensure that Iran never sees the aforementioned funds."

Earlier today, Qatar acquiesced to American pressure and froze the $6 billion dollars that was set to be transferred to Iran. The wealthy Gulf Emirate has been known to aid terrorists and fund their activities across the Middle East and Africa shielded from scrutiny through its lavish PR spending in Washington. The recent crimes by Hamas leave no more room for leniency with such behavior and Qatar must choose between its strategic ties with the United States and continuous support for terrorism and the spreading of antisemitism through their state-sponsored TV network, Al-Jazeera.

We especially express our gratitude to Rep. Ogles and his office who have been working with EMET for months on confronting Qatar's malevolent activities and political bribery long before the events.

Says Sarah Stern, Founder and President of EMET, "At a time when Hamas has revealed to the world its barbaric, monstrous face, it is now time for Doha to make the choice: You are either with us, or you are with the terrorists."
