Opposing a Bad Tax DealThe House passed a tax bill that would temporarily extend a handful of the expiring pro-growth tax cuts that President Trump signed into law in 2017. While I supported those provisions, I ultimately voted against the bill because it also included expanded welfare payments under the guise of a child tax credit. Worse, it permits millions of illegal aliens to receive these welfare payments as well. Unfortunately, conservatives were denied the opportunity to offer amendments to the bill that would have fixed the glaring problems. |
Combating Biden's Open BordersPresident Biden refuses to follow the law and secure our Southern Border. This week, the House passed several border-related bills which I strongly supported. I voted YES on a bill to create criminal offenses for illegals using vehicles to flee Border Patrol Agents, YES to ensure that NO ONE involved in the horrific October 7 attacks on Israel can enter the U.S., and YES to make it a deportable offense for an illegal alien to commit social security fraud.

Confronting the Postal ServiceMy office hears regularly from Virginians who experience delays in the delivery of bills, tax documents, critical medical information, and other mail by the United States Postal Service (USPS). Members of my team and I have met with USPS representatives on multiple occasions to address the delivery issues and try to help resolve the problems for our constituents.

Fighting to Preserve American HistoryI sent two letters demanding accountability and transparency from recent efforts by the now-completed Naming Commission, voicing my concerns about efforts to rewrite our nation's history. The Commission recently concluded their efforts to remove historic memorials, culminating with the removal of Arlington National Cemetery's "Reconciliation Monument."

Recognizing Young InnovatorsEvery year, middle and high school students across the 5th District submit their applications to participate in the Congressional App Challenge, a competition for students interested in STEM to code an application of their preference. This year, an extraordinary app called "Illness IQ," took the prize. It helps individuals diagnose medical symptoms without having to see a doctor. Congratulations to this year's winners Adrian Park, Sean Fu, and Emmett Lach from Albemarle High School! |
Holding the CBO AccountableThe Budget Committee held a hearing on Congressional Budget Office (CBO) oversight. The CBO has a long history of being wrong on long term cost projections which misinform Congress and the American people on critical pieces of legislation. |
