Congressman Good Update: Mail Delivery Improvements on the Way?

Postal Service Update

People in the 5th District have been experiencing an inexcusable number of issues with the United States Postal Service.  My office has heard too many times about lost packages and excessive delays in important mail delivery. I recently joined a bipartisan effort with the Virginia delegation to demand solutions for the problems with the mail.

An audit was conducted on March 28 at the new regional processing facility at Sandston, near Richmond, that serves most of the 5th District. Since opening last July, only 66% of First-Class mail has been delivered within two days, compared to a national average of 87%. The audit found "a general inattention to detail that resulted in mail being left on or around machines, large amounts of machinable mail in manual processing, and in one case, mail over two months old left in a container in the truck yard."

The postal inspector made ten recommendations on how to improve the operations at the facility that is the lowest ranked in the country. I am grateful that the USPS has taken our inquiries seriously, and I will continue to hold them accountable to correct their unsatisfactory service.

President Biden Sides with Unions (Again)

President Biden issued a rule this week designed to make it more difficult for future presidents to reduce the federal workforce. This rule has been a priority for federal unions since the end of the Trump Administration which sought to make it easier to remove federal employees from their posts.

President Biden and the Democrats are committed to protecting underperforming federal employees, unaccountable bureaucrats, and the deep state. In truth, we should probably reduce the federal workforce by half, which would save taxpayer dollars, improve government efficiency, and provide much-needed private sector workers!

You can read more about the rule here.
