Jon Myers Republican for Virginia’s 7th congressional district: We can't afford to live like this

Virginia is where America was born. For 416 years it has been a great place to live and thrive. However, the rapid increase in living expenses is threatening our ability to even feed our families.

As a 14th-generation Virginian whose family roots run deep in the Commonwealth, I am just as deeply concerned about the ongoing increases in the cost of living as you are. For the first time in 30 years, my family is worried whether we can afford to live comfortably.

Since President Biden took office:

๐Ÿ“ˆ Overall prices went up 19.4%

๐Ÿ“ˆ Cost of groceries went up 21.1%

๐Ÿ“ˆ Average rent for Americans went up 20.9%

๐Ÿ“ˆ Cost of electricity went up 28.3%

Hardworking Virginians are feeling the pinch as prices for essential goods and services increase exponentially. From groceries to gas, housing to transportation, the burden on families is becoming increasingly unsustainable.

Excessive government regulations and burdensome taxes are driving up costs for businesses and crippling the purchasing power of consumers. As a result, many Virginians are finding it increasingly difficult to make ends meet.

As a father of three, with two in college, I understand your frustration trying to make ends meet. I live it.

I am committed to fighting for policies that promote economic freedom and opportunity for all Virginians. This means reducing unnecessary regulations, lowering taxes, and empowering individuals and businesses to thrive.

Together, we can reverse the tide of rising living costs and restore Virginia to its rightful place as a beacon of prosperity and opportunity.
