Quote of the Day

Obama, Carter, Mondale – What’s The Difference?

"James Pethokoukis, an economics and political blogger for U.S. News & World Report, recently analyzed three speeches on economic issues given by Barack Obama, Walter Mondale and Jimmy Carter. He posted three excerpts of each speech and, after removing any historically dated references, he challenged readers to tell the difference. It was difficult because there is virtually no difference between them. Pethokoukis remarked, “…each gentleman probably could have given any of the three with only minor changes. The themes were similar. …It’s as if the past 25 years [of economic growth] … never happened.

Friends, when Obama says he wants to “change” America, he means it. He wants to undo the legacy of Ronald Reagan by raising taxes in order to expand an already bloated government. He would gut the military in order to expand federal spending on old, failed “Great Society” programs. He would take us back to the economic “malaise days” of Jimmy Carter, and set us back decades in the cultural war with the appointment of radical judicial activists."
