SUVGOP: ...and More Taxes

When the Governor submitted the state budget this year, he proposed overhauling the tax base (an income tax reduction by 12%) to make Virginia more competitive with our neighbors and raise the sales tax and close the "tech tax loophole". Well, give the Democrats the ability to tax more and screw the taxpayer, and that's just what they did. The Democrats' budget is in final negotiations before going to the Governor and we shouldn't be surprised that they removed the Gov's proposed tax refund, but are keeping all the proposed increased taxes! Their reasoning: more money is needed for education. This is the same reason Fairfax is raising local taxes. Unfortunately, this money goes to high paid administrative staff and little to the teachers. Read about it HERE and HERE.
