Julie Gunlock, Independent Women’s Network: This week on Independent Women’s Network

No doubt many of you watched the SOTU on Thursday night. It was a frustrating spectacle only made bearable by House Speaker Mike Johnson's constant eye rolling and visible exasperation. Thank you, Speaker Johnson. We all needed the comic relief.

President Biden was angry, bitter, and clearly overcaffeinated and/or overmedicated. It was everything one would expect from the delusional President–pretending the economy's booming, blaming Republicans for the crisis at the border, gaslighting the American people on just about everything, and using the opportunity to campaign, of course.

But I noticed something else, much more sinister. Just before Biden stepped up to the podium to deliver his predictably fiery speech, two of the more odious members of "the squad"–Representatives Rashida Tlaib and Cori Bush–were seen putting on keffiyehs, the black and white checked scarf made fashionable by confirmed terrorist Yasser Arafat decades ago, which is now a symbol of Jewish hatred and support for Hamas. They also held up paper signs that read "Lasting Ceasefire Now."

That Reps. Tlaib and Bush put on this revolting display is hardly surprising but it is especially vile to do this while American and Isreali hostages are still being held in Gaza–likely being tortured, raped, starved, and most likely murdered. And they did this while former Hamas hostage Mia Schem and 17 relatives of those still being held captive in Gaza were present.

The 21-year-old Schem, who was injured and kidnapped during the Nova festival massacre and held for 50 days in Gaza, was a guest of House Speaker Mike Johnson. Imagine the anger she and the relatives of those current hostages felt when they saw that symbol of hatred displayed under the Capitol Dome. What a shame.

But that wasn't the only shameful moment.

During Biden's speech, Gold Star dad Steve Nikoui, the father of fallen Marine Lance Cpl. Kareem Nikoui, who was killed along with 13 other service members at Abbey Gate during the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal, was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor because he cried out to President Biden to remember his son.

I'm not particularly happy when people yell out during the SOTU. I believe that decorum should be maintained at all times. But I understand Mr. Nikoui's frustrations. And of course, President Biden has never honored (nor mentioned much) the 13 soldiers killed at the Abbey Gate. His disinterest in these fallen soldiers was evident when he was filmed checking his watch as their bodies were received at Dover AFB. And today, even with the clear evidence that it was a massive intelligence and policy disaster, Biden still brags about the Afghan withdrawal–another case of gaslighting the American public who know the truth.

But what makes this story outrageous and yet another example of a two tiered justice system in America, is that while a Gold Star dad was arrested and charged, there wasn't one arrest among the rabid pro-Hamas protestors who blocked President Biden's exit from the Capitol grounds after the SOTU speech. That's right, deranged pro-terrorist protestors can endanger the President's life and get away with it, but the father of a fallen soldier yells at the President during his lie-a-thon on the House floor and that patriot goes straight to jail.

Welcome to Biden's America.
