Jennifer-Ruth Green: Challenge Accepted

Republican Women of the #RedWave

Jennifer-Ruth Green, Republican nominee for Indiana's 1st Congressional District, is a member of United Federated Republican Women of Gary

Challenge accepted. For Jennifer-Ruth Green, these words are not just a campaign slogan – she lives by them. She also lives by her commitment to serving her country and to pursuing excellence in anything she undertakes.

Nancy Pelosi tearing up President Trump's State of the Union speech was a game-changing moment for Jennifer-Ruth, a U.S. Air Force veteran who currently serves in the Indiana Air National Guard - the first African-American woman and Asian-American woman to do so (her father is African-American, and her mother is Filipino). "That (gesture) was a great, devastating blow to our stability as a country," she said. "That action was more than just political theater. It showed a lack of unity and a loss of confidence in our leaders." Pelosi's brazen disrespect compelled Jennifer-Ruth to run for Congress.

Jennifer-Ruth credits the members of her local Republican women's clubs for the support she is receiving from the grassroots. "Not just my own club, but the Lake County RW and the Porter County RW are also helping... making promotional videos, recruiting volunteers, knocking doors, putting up signs – I am so grateful for their sorority." Jennifer-Ruth is outraising her Democrat opponent – a long-entrenched incumbent – by two to one. The Cook Political Report and Larry Sabato have switched their ratings for the upcoming election from "Leans Democrat" to "Toss Up." Read more here.
