Spanberger Continues to Mislead Virginia Voters on Her Defund the Police Record

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY - Today, the Vega campaign issued a response to Abigail Spanberger's new campaign ad where she attempts to mislead voters about her consistent support for the defund the police movement.   "Abigail can't hide from the truth. She voted to end qualified immunity. She sold out the men and women in law enforcement for a $5,000 check from AOC's PAC that requires candidates pledge to defund the police. And she even voted against an amendment in Congress that would have condemned the defund the police movement. Virginians aren't fooled, they know Abigail doesn't support our men and women in blue," said a Vega spokesperson.   Here are the facts: Abigail sold out the men and women in law enforcement when she accepted a $5,000 PAC check from AOC's "Defund the Police" PAC that demanded candidates pledge to defund the police. In Congress, Abigail Spanberger stood with AOC and the radical left, voting against an Amendment that condemned the defund the police movement.  Abigail voted to end qualified immunity for law enforcement, leaving them open to endless, frivolous lawsuits. (SOURCE)   Vega has received endorsements from nine sheriffs across the 7th Congressional District and the Virginia Police Benevolent Association. The PBA is a voice for over 60,000 law enforcement officers employed by federal, state, county, and municipal governments. Yesli Vega's decision to enter the world of law enforcement came after her brother and his friend were randomly gunned down by MS-13 gang members while waiting to go to the movie theatre. By the Grace of God, Yesli's brother survived this horrible act of gang violence, her brother's friend died that night. The professionalism and care with which the local law enforcement agencies dealt with the situation inspired Yesli to want to give back and help protect her community from these horrible acts. Her career began as a street cop with the City of Alexandria's Police Department where she faced the split second, life or death situations our men and women in blue face every time they put on the uniform. Yesli then went on to serve on the Manassas Park Police Department where she became a certified hostage negotiator, and later joined the Prince William County Sheriff's Office to serve as a deputy working with the Crisis Intervention Team. Yesli still serves as an Auxiliary Deputy Sheriff to this day.
