On Saturday, July 13, we received the horrifying news that there had been an assassination attempt on President Donald Trump at a rally. We are thankful that the attempt failed, and we are grieved for the family of Corey Comperatore who was killed. He died shielding his wife and daughter from the attack.
Let me share with you how I - an emergency physician - experienced this news.
I saw blood at the President's ear. For me, this signaled that we stood millimeters away from disaster. I am very experienced treating gunshot wounds, and I immediately prayed the bullet missed his neck - which is one of the most critical and vulnerable areas of the body. Any injury to the carotid artery, internal jugular vein, or spinal cord could kill him quickly. And a non-fatal injury could be extremely debilitating - hitting the vocal cords, larynx, esophagus, brain - depending upon the bullet's trajectory.
I happened to be in the center of New York City in Times Square - and guess what? Not a single billboard or screen showed anything that was unfolding. I was literally surrounded by enormous television monitors displaying news, sports and entertainment - and not a single one carried the breaking story of Trump being shot at and wounded in an assassination attempt. The famous Times Square running "ticker-tape" - not a peep.
Let that sink in. Why wouldn't the media report on such a sensational story? This type of content is their bread and butter - their raison d'etre. In similar situations, we would have seen endless replays and soundbites with reporters analyzing every second of footage. Instead - complete silence - zero coverage.

This messaging was meant to diminish and minimize the truth that a shooter attempted to assassinate President Trump.
While I became known for speaking the truth about COVID, my focus was, and always will be, censorship. During COVID, the assault on the First Amendment rights of physicians and experts, killed people and crushed the middle class - which is why I founded America's Frontline Doctors.
