NoVA GOP News: RNC Convention
|
The time has finally arrived for the Republicans to nominate their Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates for the 2024 election cycle. We know that our former President, Donald J. Trump, will be our nominee for a record-setting third time. Of the two major political parties, no other GOP presidential candidate has been nominated three times and only the Democrats' William Jennings Bryan in the 1896, 1900 and 1904 elections was nominated three times (and lost each time). Joe Biden has run for the nomination four times and been nominated only once so far (let's see if he makes it to Chicago to be nominated this year). The first time he ran for the D nomination, 36 years ago, he ended up dropping out due to his plagiarism charges (HERE).
The excitement in Milwaukee this week will revolve around who will be selected to become the Vice Presidential nominee and gain a "leg up" for the 2028 election. Below is a quick schedule of events (and theme). Follow the SUVGOP Facebook page (HERE) and our other social media platforms for live/in-person reporting from the Convention:
