The No Social Security for Illegal Immigrants Act
Current law forbids an individual from receiving Social Security payments if they are here illegally, but their entire work history - even work done as an illegal alien - can count toward Social Security benefits if the individual later becomes a legal resident. This is a broken policy. People who come here illegally should not benefit from breaking our laws. The No Social Security for Illegal Immigrants Act of 2009, H.R. 2287, would forbid unauthorized work performed by non-citizens from counting toward Social Security credits.
With efforts to grant amnesty to illegal aliens ongoing in Washington and with Social Security on track to begin paying out more benefits than it receives in revenues in 2016, it is especially important that we protect against additional strain to the Social Security Trust Fund. The Social Security system was designed to provide benefits for American workers and their families, not for those who disregard our immigration laws."
