Weekly Wrap-Up with Congressman Byron Donalds – May 28, 2024

Last week, my office was hard at work on Capitol Hill holding the radicals in the Biden administration accountable and delivering upon meaningful solutions on behalf of our Southwest Florida community, the State of Florida, and the American people.

On the legislative front, I joined my colleagues in voting to promote and protect innovation here in the United States. The passage of the FIT 21 Act not only highlights the role digital assets will play in our country's future but is a strong, bipartisan rebuke of the extreme overreach by the rogue bureaucratic state, particularly at the SEC. Legislative clarity, instead of regulatory retaliation, is how we ensure the digital asset ecosystem thrives on our own shores and maintain American dominance in the global financial market.

I also led an initiative demanding action from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) on approving and allocating federal fishery disaster relief in response to Hurricane Ian. The initiative also challenges NOAA to slash and minimize bureaucratic red tape associated with the slow-roll of much-needed federal fishery disaster relief for residents of Southwest Florida.

Locally, my team and I held a town hall at Cape Christian Church in Cape Coral. More than 600 people attended our event to discuss legislative updates from our nation's capital and the most pressing issues facing our community. Thank you to our Southwest Florida community for an incredible turnout and thank you to the Cape Coral Police Department for keeping us safe!

A special congratulations goes out to Naples, Florida on being named the best place to live in America by U.S. News & World Report! There is truly nothing like our Southwest Florida community and I am proud to call this paradise my home.

Most importantly, this Monday was Memorial Day. We honor the heroes who answered the call to defend our nation and made the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of the peaceful and prosperous future we enjoy today. Their courage, bravery, and selflessness cannot be overstated. May their memories never be forgotten.

As your Congressman, you have my commitment to work on your behalf and restore order and proper governance to The People's House.

Donalds Votes To Rebuke Extreme Overreach By The Rogue Bureaucratic State

WASHINGTON – Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) released the following statement following the successful, bipartisan passage of H.R. 4763 – The Financial Innovation and Technology for the 21st Century (FIT 21) Act.

"This week, the House of Representatives took a huge step forward to promote and protect innovation here in the U.S. The passage of the FIT 21 Act not only highlights the role digital assets will play in our country's future but is a strong, bipartisan rebuke of the extreme overreach by the rogue bureaucratic state, particularly at the SEC. Legislative clarity, instead of regulatory retaliation, is how we ensure the digital asset ecosystem thrives on our own shores and maintain American dominance in the global financial market."
