Gary Bauer: End Of Day - 6-21-24 - More Open Borders Victims, Trump Gets It, Defending Faith, Family, & Freedom

More Open Borders Victims

It's happened again. An innocent American was brutally murdered by two illegal aliens from Venezuela. Tragically, the victim in this case was a 12 year-old girl in Texas.

These two Venezuelans had multiple interactions with Biden's immigration system. One was captured by the Border Patrol in March, and the other was intercepted in late May. They knew exactly what to say – they claimed asylum, saying they feared being sent back to Venezuela.

The Border Patrol put ankle monitors on them, so they would show up for their court hearings, and then they were let loose into our country as Joe Biden demanded.

It didn't take long for these monsters to betray our "goodwill." They strangled an innocent American girl to death and dumped her body in a river. Police are still waiting for the results of a sexual assault exam.

But there's more.

On Monday, five illegal aliens were arrested and charged with kidnapping a 14 year-old girl from Indiana. Police say the illegal aliens were trafficking her to California.

More and more Americans are being victimized as a direct result of the left's open border policies. The bodies of American women, who should be safe in America, are piling up after being raped and murdered by illegal aliens who shouldn't be in America.

But leftist politicians and their media allies don't care because, ultimately, this is about the "fundamental transformation of America" by importing more voters for the left.

Why isn't there more outrage? Has the country become so jaded that we just shrug whenever fellow citizens are murdered by foreign criminals who shouldn't be here?

I have repeatedly said that border security is national security. It's also domestic security, and far too many innocent Americans are paying the price for the left's open borders insanity.

Trump Gets It

Erin Morin Layman was interviewed this morning on Fox & Friends. Layman is the half-sister of Rachel Morin, the mother of five who was killed in Maryland by an illegal alien.

Laymen said that President Trump called the family yesterday and spent more than half an hour consoling them. Rachel's mother, Patty Morin, said in a separate interview:

"I am deeply touched by President Trump's kindness and concern. He was genuine and truly wanted to know how our family was coping. He asked about Rachel and showed honest compassion for her untimely death."

With her voice breaking, Erin Layman's she said the hardest thing she had to do was take Rachel's two youngest children to visit their mother's grave on Mother's Day.

The Morin family hasn't heard a word from the Biden White House. Homeland Insecurity Secretary Mayorkas won't even say her name, and neither would CNN's Jim Acosta, who blamed "right-wing media" for drawing attention to Morin's death.

Last Thoughts

Everyone thinks about how they want to "go" as they approach the end of their time on earth. Some say, "I hope I go fast," "I hope I fall asleep and don't wake up," or "I want to be surrounded by loved ones when the time comes."

But no one says, "I want to die violently at the hands of a savage, criminal illegal alien."

Think of the horror and the terror Rachel Morin, a mother of five, and that innocent 12 year-girl in Texas suffered in their final moments.

Think of the 13 year-old girl raped at knife-point in the middle of a park while her illegal alien attacker filmed it all. She has to live with that humiliation for the rest of her life.

And yet so-called "progressive" politicians and leftist media hosts are cracking jokes about 13 year-old girls getting raped. That's unbelievably callous and despicable!

None of these heinous crimes should be happening to anyone in America, let alone 12 and 13 year-old girls.

Double Standards

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is dropping charges against the overwhelming majority of the pro-Hamas rioters who took over buildings at Columbia University.

That's absurd!

They were trespassing.

They engaged in physical violence.

They kidnapped janitors.

They called for a revolution.

They assaulted and harassed Jewish students.

They also had floor plans of Hamilton Hall and a "task list," which included a schedule for the Muslim call to prayer. Apparently, you still have to pray to Allah when you're pillaging.

But Bragg's office says there isn't enough evidence to charge them because their faces and security cameras were covered.

That's absurd!

Anyone arrested inside the building obviously committed the crime of trespassing.

By the way, the overwhelming majority of Americans want these pro-Hamas radicals to be prosecuted, but Bragg is obviously not representative of most Americans.

But just so we're clear, the guy who wants to put jail a former president and leading presidential candidate over a minor bookkeeping offense, just let out of jail violent radicals who attack Jews, kidnap people, destroy property, and support a terrorist organization.

This will all start up again when students return to Columbia later this summer. By that time, Israel could well be at war with Hezbollah and Hamas, and these demonstrations will only get bigger because Bragg refused to prosecute most of the violent Hamas sympathizers.

But don't worry about that. By then, "Bad Orange Man" may be the one in jail.

Speaking of Alvin Bragg. . .

The Supreme Court issued a 6-to-3 decision today in a criminal justice case that raised eyebrows among some conservatives.

Investigative journalist Julie Kelly noted that the justices rebuked a "novel sentencing enhancement" scheme that allowed judges to impose increased penalties in certain cases.

Instead of judges making such decisions, the Supreme Court ruled that a jury must reach a unanimous decision in cases where defendants are facing the potential of increased penalties.

The Federalist's Sean Davis observed that this decision has "obvious implications" for Alvin Bragg's prosecution of Donald Trump and for the sentencing enhancements used in many January 6th cases.

Constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley also zeroed in on today's ruling. Referring to Bragg's novel theory that allowed him to prosecute misdemeanors when the statute of limitations had already expired, Turley wrote:

"One of the objections to the Manhattan trial was based on the instruction that the jury did not have to agree on exactly what happened. . . That meant that there could be a 4-4-4 jury on the key issue of [the] secondary crime.

"The [Supreme Court] reaffirmed the need for a unanimous decision under the beyond a reasonable doubt standard on such elements. It amplifies the need for direct and unanimous findings of such key elements to a criminal case. Some of us objected that the Manhattan case followed a dangerously fluid approach to key elements. . ."

Soon, the Supreme Court will issue an opinion directly related to the enhanced penalties imposed on many January 6th defendants. We will keep you posted.
