Team Youngkin: Why won’t Biden debate in Virginia?

Joe Biden has turned his back on Virginia.

Joe Biden's policies have failed Virginians at every turn. Inflation continues to steal from their paychecks. Every state is now a border state, including Virginia, where we feel the impact of the illegal immigration crisis, fentanyl crisis, and national security crisis made worse by Biden's agenda.

After winning Virginia by 10 points in 2020, Joe Biden knows he cannot defend his record as president to Virginians, which is why Joe Biden pulled out of an historic general election debate that was scheduled to take place at Virginia State University (VSU) -- one of our nation's Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).

Biden refusing to participate in this debate is emblematic of his presidency. He is retreating from a bold, history-making opportunity on an HBCU campus, with students, faculty, and Virginians in the audience. It is a weak move from a president who knows his policies have failed Virginians while Governor Youngkin's policies have delivered for them.

The success Virginia has seen under Governor Glenn Youngkin's commonsense, conservative leadership stands in stark contrast to Joe Biden's failed agenda.

Governor Youngkin put it best: "I think Virginia is in play. Let's just remind ourselves, Joe Biden won by 10 points. I ended up winning by two the next year. And what we've demonstrated is commonsense conservative policies work, and Virginians appreciate that. They appreciate a rip-roaring economy with lots of job opportunities. They appreciate backing the blue and making sure we have safe communities. They appreciate the fact that we are standing up for excellence in education and not allowing equity to replace excellence in our schools. Virginians have seen what commonsense conservative policies result in because Virginia is working, and they see a massive disparity between what Joe Biden stands for and what Donald Trump stands for. So yeah, Virginia is in play."

Governor Glenn Youngkin is going to do everything he can to make sure these commonsense conservative policies continue to deliver for Virginians by helping Republicans win up and down the ballot in Virginia. But he cannot do this without your help.
