Your support makes these kinds of things happen! Thank you!
Here's how it played out:
- Doreen Denny, Concerned Women for America's (CWA) Senior Advisor, sent this alert around noon: "Attention Texas: trans-identified male set to compete in the National Women's Water Polo Championship, which will be held from May 3 to 5 at Texas A&M University (TAMU)."
- Within minutes, CWA's Young Women for America (YWA) National Director, Morgan Schlesselman, activated the YWA chapter at TAMU and let us know "Our YWA Texas A&M girls will be there with posters and T-shirts."
- Minutes later, YWA's Southern Regional Coordinator responded: "Working on getting more involved. Also just got a message from our TAMU Chapter President that some of the swimmers competing tomorrow were never informed that a male is competing and only found out through our YWA chapter. The schools are doing nothing to protect these girls!"
- Around 4:00 p.m., an update: "We have gotten in contact with one of the female athletes, and she will most likely sit out of tomorrow's tournament. If so, she will join our YWA girls, and our Chapter President will get an interview with her. Our TAMU YWA has a very capable social media team!"
- By 5:00 p.m., a HUGE WIN: "Great news! The male player has been disqualified, and the match will go on without him. The pressure from our YWA leaders and other women in the community is surely having an impact."
